Kolkata feels sharp tremors as bangladesh hit by strong earthquake
A 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit near Dhaka in Bangladesh, sending strong tremors across Kolkata and multiple districts of West Bengal, where residents hurried out of homes, offices and high-rise buildings in alarm. The quake, which occurred at a shallow depth of around 10 km, was also felt in parts of Northeast India. Although the tremors caused brief panic and shaking of lights and household items, authorities reported no significant damage or casualties and continue to monitor the situation.
