TTS ICon  Please introduce yourself and tell us about your personal background.

I grew up in a family where food was always about tradition and feelings, not just eating. Even though I started out in a regular corporate job, I always felt like I should be doing something more meaningful. Spending time in the kitchen, learning old family recipes, and seeing how much better homemade, natural food can be is really what started this whole journey. Now, I’ve started Amma’s Spices to share that same authentic, home-cooked feel and high quality with families everywhere.

Amma’s Spices came to life from the desire to keep traditional flavours alive while making everyday cooking easier. The journey was inspired by my mother-in-law’s treasured recipes and time-tested cooking practices that have been passed down for generations. We realised that people still long for the comfort of authentic, home-style food but often don’t have the time to prepare everything themselves. Amma’s Spices was created to bring those rich flavours within reach, blending heritage with modern convenience.

TTS ICon  Building a business as a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo is uncommon. How would you describe this partnership?

Our partnership works so well because we truly respect each other and want the same things for the business. Amma brings years of experience, a natural instinct for flavors, and deep traditional knowledge, while I handle the modern side of things like organization and growing the brand. It’s a great mix of old-school wisdom and new ideas. Beyond just being business partners, this journey has turned into a really strong personal bond that keeps getting better.

TTS ICon  Have you faced any challenges while working together, and how did you overcome them?

Working together hasn’t always been easy, especially when trying to combine traditional methods with the fast pace of today’s business world. But regular communication and understanding helped us handle those challenges. Over time, we found a balance that keeps our traditional roots strong while allowing our work to grow and adapt to modern market needs.

We stand apart through authenticity and intention. Rather than following mass-market formulas, our blends are inspired by genuine home recipes passed down through generations.

We’ve stripped away the preservatives and additives, focusing entirely on health, taste, and trust. For us, it’s about more than just spices—it’s about recreating the soul of ghar ka khana in every kitchen.

We take great care in selecting our ingredients, always focusing on freshness, purity, and overall quality. From sourcing to final preparation, every step is handled thoughtfully to make sure the end product meets our standards. Each batch goes through a detailed process that includes thorough cleaning, careful blending, and quality checks to maintain consistent taste and aroma. Since we operate on a controlled, small-scale level, we’re able to stay closely involved in every stage of production. This hands-on approach allows us to monitor the process personally and ensure that every batch reflects the same level of care and consistency.

TTS ICon  What is your long-term vision for Amma’s Spices? Are there upcoming products or expansions you are excited about?

Our goal is to build Amma’s Spices into a trusted name that people instantly associate with authenticity and quality. We hope to grow our presence across India and, in the future, reach customers around the world by introducing Indian-inspired products to today’s consumers. At the same time, we are working on widening our product range with more health-focused mixes and traditional blends designed to support everyday needs such as better digestion, proper hydration, and balanced nutrition.

We began as a self-funded venture with a very small investment. Our early expenses were mostly for raw ingredients, simple packaging, and small-scale production. Rather than spending heavily at the start, we chose to first test our products and build demand gradually.

Our quality process covers every stage, starting from carefully selecting and cleaning the ingredients to blending and final packaging. Each batch is reviewed to make sure the taste, aroma, and texture stay consistent every time. We pay close attention to hygiene, handling, and storage conditions so the products remain fresh, safe, and reliable. This detailed approach helps us maintain the same level of quality in every pack we deliver.

Our trust has grown naturally over time, mainly through customer recommendations and repeat orders. When people truly enjoy the quality of a product, they tend to return and share their experience with others. We have focused on being honest and open in our communication, delivering the same level of quality every time, and staying committed to our core values. This consistent and genuine approach has helped us build strong, lasting relationships with our customers.

We don’t aim to compete with big brands in terms of size or mass production. Instead, we focus on what makes us unique—authenticity, personal connection, and a strong sense of tradition. While large brands often rely on standardization, we bring a more personal and heartfelt approach that reflects real home-style cooking. Our strength comes from being genuine, relatable, and closely connected to the roots of traditional recipes, which helps us build a deeper bond with our customers.

Begin with a small, well-planned start and make sure your foundation is strong. Give priority to delivering great quality before thinking about expanding. Take the time to truly understand your customers, their needs, and their expectations, and work on building their trust step by step. Instead of rushing into large investments, focus on testing and proving your product first. Above all, remain consistent and patient throughout the journey. Creating a strong brand doesn’t happen overnight, but when you stay genuine and committed, long-term success naturally follows.
