Telegram under investigation by Indian government for gambling and extortion; possible ban imminent

The Indian government is investigating Telegram for its alleged involvement in criminal activities such as extortion and gambling. CEO Pavel Durov was arrested in Paris on August 24, allegedly due to the app's failure to prevent criminal activities.The Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) is investigating Telegram. The report states that the final decision will depend on the investigation's findings.
