Onima Kashyap, a talented Indian actress and accomplished painter, completed her education at D.A.V public school. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Delhi and a postgraduate degree in fashion designing from Pearl Academy of Fashion. Known for her captivating presence on Coca Cola billboards across India, she has also starred in numerous TV commercials for brands like Nivea, Limca, Lux, Kalyan Jewellers, and Parachute, showcasing her versatility and charm.

  Share with us your identity, achievements, and current endeavors. Unveil your narrative and highlight what sets you apart ?

I am a seasoned actress with over 200 endorsements from well-known brands, including being the face of numerous Coca-Cola billboards across India. Catch me in the latest web series "CHACHA VIDHAYAK HAI" on Amazon.

I approach life with a deep sense of wonder and curiosity. I believe that immersing oneself in any art form can be incredibly liberating. As an artist, I express myself through various mediums such as painting, acting, singing, and dancing. My goal is to convey a wide range of emotions through my art.

  Where are you from? Share some memories from your childhood with us!

I come from Gurgaon, where as a child, I was known for my shy and introverted nature. However, my true passion lied in exploring various creative activities.

  What led to the success in your career journey?

I used to work as a fashion designer with well-known brands in Delhi, but I realized I hadn't fully explored my potential. So, I made a bold decision to step into the unknown, facing my fears and doubts head-on. I knew that the only way to find out was to take a leap of faith and try. Overcoming my apprehensions, I started auditioning for commercials and projects in Delhi, eventually landing my first ad for Himalaya. This success propelled me to move to Mumbai, and since then, I haven't looked back. Embracing the courage to venture into new territories and push beyond my comfort zone has truly shaped who I am today.

  Do you belong to a bollywood family? 

Not at all, I belong to a middle class family. 

  Have you noticed a transformation in your style since the start of your career?

Certainly, starting out I was inexperienced, but over time and through various projects, I have developed and transformed as an actor. Each new project brings opportunities to learn and grow, allowing me to broaden my perspective and skill in portraying a diverse range of emotions on screen.

  How challenging was it to make your mark in the film industry?

You never know what you're capable of until you take that first step, so I decided to start auditioning for various projects. I immersed myself in street plays and became a vital part of a theatre group in Mandi House. Each day, I would attend at least 3-4 auditions for ads, facing fierce competition as numerous others vied for the same opportunities.

  What made you decide to pursue a career as an actor? 

As a child, I always felt a strong urge to express my inner creativity, which led me to participate in various dance, singing, and painting competitions. There is a natural performer within me that craves to be unleashed, making a career in the performing arts the perfect choice for me as it allows me to showcase my talents and fulfill my creative desires.

  How did you perform as a student during your time in school and college?.

I have always been a dedicated student who enjoyed participating in extracurricular activities. Modeling unexpectedly entered my life during college, as I began accepting modeling assignments to earn some extra cash. Little did I know that this decision would lead to a significant transformation in my life.

  What abilities have you acquired that will enhance your performance in your acting endeavors?

I am well-versed in classical music, proficient in Bollywood hip hop and contemporary dance. Yoga and meditation are integral to my daily routine. Since childhood, painting has been my creative outlet, allowing me to bring my imagination to life.

  Did your parents provide sufficient support for your acting career? Are they backing your current endeavors?

Their unwavering support and belief in my decisions have been invaluable to me. My mother, always a discerning critic, offers insightful suggestions after watching my performances, urging me to refine my acting skills. I believe she has a natural talent for acting herself. Thanks to her dedication, I have landed numerous commercials, as she assisted me in recording audition tapes. Additionally, her talent for mimicry and admiration for icons like Hema Malini and Dev Anand truly inspire me.

  What motivates you to pursue a career in acting or look up to someone as a role model?

I have come to realize that acting opens the door to a world of imagination and exploration. It empowers me to embody various characters and allows me to deeply connect with their emotions. As an actor, you are required to tap into emotions you never knew existed within you. It's essential to remain vulnerable and keep your emotions close to the surface, enabling easy access to them when needed.

  Do you have any other passions or interests aside from acting?

I market my artwork under the brand ONIMA CREATIONS. In this digital age, connecting with customers has never been simpler thanks to social media. I engage directly with my audience through my Instagram and Facebook pages at ONIMA CREATIONS.

  What accomplishments have you attained in your acting career ?

I have graced countless Coca-Cola billboards throughout India and have lent my endorsement to over 200 renowned brands. I am fortunate to have collaborated with iconic figures such as the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Shahrukh Khan, Rajkumar Rao, and many more.

  What type of role do you see yourself playing in the future?

I would love to work on meaningful projects with good  story tellers.

  How many of your movies, web series, and music albums have been released so far?

The music video collaboration with Bhuvan Bam for "Sang Hoon Tere" received an overwhelming response, with viewers praising our onscreen chemistry for its authenticity. The music video "Lost in Love" with Salim Merchant was a massive success, garnering love and appreciation. Working with this talented duo was truly a privilege.   What is the one message you would like to share with your fans?

When auditioning, focus on enjoying the process and giving your best without worrying about the outcome. Keep honing your skills, trust that everything will align perfectly, and never let rejection discourage you. Hard work always pays off in the end.

  What sets apart the experience of creating a web series from producing TV commercials?

The skills I honed while creating ads greatly influenced my portrayal of the character Tanvi in chacha vidhayak hai. Crafting a message within a 30-40 second ad is a challenging task, as it requires a convincing delivery to sell the product effectively. On the other hand, in longer formats like web series, actors have the freedom to delve deeper into portraying the character's emotions.
