Kshitij Pawar, a professional actor, has showcased his talent in a variety of Bollywood movies and over 70 TV advertisements. He is well-known for his performances in OMG 2 (2023), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015), and Chaar Yaar.

  Can you share your journey of becoming an actor? What sparked your interest in acting?

From a young age, I have been immersed in the world of performing arts, actively participating in singing, dancing, and theatrical productions at school events. As I matured, my passion for cultural activities continued to grow. Following the completion of my MCM degree, I secured a position at a prestigious multinational corporation through my college campus. However, after a couple of years in a desk job, I found myself yearning for a more creative outlet. This led me to make the bold decision to leave the corporate world behind and embark on a new journey in the dynamic realm of advertising. This shift reignited my creativity, prompting me to delve into theater, acquire essential skills, and ultimately take a leap of faith by pursuing opportunities in Mumbai.

  What were some of your earliest roles and how did they shape your career?

After just six months in Mumbai, I found luck on my side with a role as Salman Khan's friend in Rajshri Productions' "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo." This role was a pivotal moment that allowed me to build my career in the film industry.

  Who were your biggest influences or mentors when you started your acting career?

I received guidance from mentors, friends, and colleagues along the way, but it was the unwavering support and belief of my parents and wife that truly gave me the courage to persevere on this challenging path. Their love and encouragement have been my pillars of strength, pushing me to overcome obstacles and reach for my dreams.

  How do you approach understanding and developing your characters?

By closely observing the diverse personalities and interactions in my daily routine, I gain valuable insights into the various roles I play in both my personal and professional life. Each individual I encounter serves as a mirror, reflecting back to me different aspects of myself and helping me navigate the complexities of my own character. This continuous process of observation and introspection has proven to be a powerful tool in my journey towards self-awareness and personal growth.

  What techniques do you use to memorize lines and stay in character during filming?

As they say, "practice makes a man perfect." With this mindset, I dedicated countless hours honing my craft, immersing myself in the role both on and off the set. Whether it was rehearsing lines with my colleagues or studying the character's nuances, I was committed to delivering a performance that was authentic and compelling. This dedication to my work not only improved my skills as an actor but also fostered strong relationships with my fellow cast members.

  What has been the most challenging role you’ve played, and why?

In preparation for a mythological project, I underwent a transformative weight loss journey. Shedding approximately 15 kilos in just one month was no easy feat, but it was necessary to achieve the perfect look for the project.

  Are there any roles or projects that stand out as turning points in your career?

Being featured in the Parle ad during the IPL not only elevated my visibility in the industry but also opened up new opportunities for growth and development in my career. The experience allowed me to showcase my skills and creativity on a larger platform, ultimately leading to valuable connections and recognition in the marketing world. I am truly grateful for the impact it has had on my professional journey.

  What trends or changes in the industry are you most excited about?

Previously, the film industry was heavily influenced by actors with perfect physiques, fair skin, and captivating personalities. Yet, the contributions of actors such as Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Rajkummar Rao have opened up opportunities for those of us with more everyday appearances.

  Can you share a difficult moment in your career and how you dealt with it?

My age and family responsibilities initially posed as major hurdles in my career. Taking on a new profession at 36 was a daring move, especially with the weight of family obligations on my shoulders. Fortunately, with the unwavering support of my loved ones, I was able to conquer these challenges and pave my way to success.

  How do you stay motivated and inspired in your career?

I am continually inspired by the experiences and biographies of senior artists, which helps me stay dedicated to my profession. On top of that, relatives who once mocked my efforts are now full of praise for me to my parents. The pride my parents feel is the greatest motivation I could have.

  Can you share your experience working with directors, co-stars, and crew members?

I had the privilege of collaborating with numerous talented individuals, but it was the invaluable lessons learned from iconic figures such as Sooraj Barjatya, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and Pankaj Tripathi that truly stood out.

  How do you balance your professional and personal life?

I am confident that by understanding your needs, allowing time for growth, and gaining experience, achieving balance will happen organically. The key is to nurture and sustain harmony.

  What do you do to relax and unwind when you’re not working?

Being a true Indori at heart, I often find myself missing Indore while residing in Mumbai. To bridge that gap, I immerse myself in creating content and crafting videos/cartoons (as Chintu Indori) during my leisure time. These creations range from motivational pieces to light-hearted comedies, aimed at bringing joy and smiles to people's faces.

  Have you had the opportunity to mentor or guide other actors, and what has that experience been like?

I have always aimed to make sure that my struggles and experiences in acting serve as a resource for aspiring actors. I've had the chance to share these insights at various acting institutes and theaters, which has been deeply rewarding.

  Are there any dream roles or projects you hope to pursue in the future?

After being deeply moved by Anupam Kher's performance in "Saaransh," I am inspired to explore the role of an elderly character with passion and authenticity.

  What kind of impact do you hope to have through your work as an actor?

My dream has always been to address social issues and promote positive messages through my work, be it in films, plays, or TV shows. Once you achieve recognition as an artist, you have the platform to influence and promote positive cultural and social values.
